My name is Jan Hernandez, and I’ve been surrounded by dogs my entire life. I grew up in Puerto Rico in a home with three dogs, and when my family moved to Houston my mom ran a dog boarding business from our home. Being part of that every day gave me early, hands‑on experience with dog care and behavior.
Altogether, I have around seven years of experience working with dogs, including about four to five years focused specifically on dog training. I started from the ground up as a kennel tech, learning daily care, safety, and handling skills, and worked my way up to assistant dog trainer in a professional boarding and training environment. From there, I spent about three years working as a dog trainer for a company, gaining experience with a wide variety of dogs and situations.
Over the years, I’ve worked with service dogs, behavior modification cases, and dogs with aggression or serious behavior issues. Before I ever trained professionally, I offered a lot of free help to friends, family, and local shelters so I could learn as much as possible and make a difference for dogs that needed it most.
